If you are starting out a blog as more of a diary with limited business involvement, then blogger should suffice. It’s a great way to create an online journal and the limitations listed above won’t affect you until you get further down the road, or perhaps not even at all.
If you are starting out a blog as more of a money investment and wanting to do reviews/giveaways, then skip blogger and go with wordpress. SEO can impact your search opportunities which are more easily accessible to set up through wordpress. Plug ins make SEO and getting noticed more effective. It also gives you a more business professional look rather than a home grown scrapbook of memories look.
If you are business, skip blogger and go with wordpress. In addition to the SEO, there are tons of plug ins that can help build your business and e commerce site without breaking your bank account. You can have a shopping cart set up on your site within minutes as well as have that look and feel of a business e commerce site. Running e commerce off of blogger is pretty nonexistent.
I do both design customizations and right now my business site is on wordpress while my personal blog is still on blogger. I hope to move it over at some point, but since I don’t update it as much as I should, I don’t really find the benefits will outweigh the work involved to do that as of yet.
It’s all about personal choice and what your goals are for your site on the net. Think about what you want now, what your future needs might be, and base your decision off of those. If you aren’t sure what is best for you, I’d be happy to discuss your needs and future goals, just shoot me an email. I’d be happy to lend you my advice.
